REQ Client GCOM Wins Communicator Award for Public Relations

REQ client GCOM, the leader in outcome-driven government, won a 2023 Communicator Award, sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA). As one of this year’s highest scorers with over 3,000 entries, our public relations campaign highlighting GCOM’s data-driven approach to the fight against human trafficking earned an Award of Excellence.

GCOM works closely with the Commonwealth of Virginia on Virginia’s Analytics System for Trafficking (VAST), which is designed to provide reliable, high-quality information about human trafficking to state officials. The platform provides insights into trafficking victims and offenders, locations where trafficking occurs, which external factors contribute to its incidence and whether it’s increasing or decreasing. With VAST, organizations across Virginia are better equipped to aid victims, prosecute criminals and prevent trafficking.

“The VAST program is one of GCOM’s many data sharing and analytics programs that is creating measurable outcomes for state residents,” said Public Relations EVP, Katie Hanusik. “We are proud to partner with GCOM to help raise awareness for the Commonwealth’s work to combat human trafficking and make communities safer.”

Examples of the REQ PR team’s work promoting the VAST program can be seen in StateScoop, Government Technology, eGovReview, and Technical.ly.
