Congratulations to Lisa Throckmorton for 14 Years On Our Team
2002 was a year of new beginnings. The United States was just getting over one of its most terrible and defining moments, but looking forward to brighter days ahead. The Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games took place, with Team Canada winning its first gold medal in hockey in 50 years. The fist Spider-Man film was released and did huge business. And let’s not forget that Kelly Clarkson won the first American Idol!
There was a new beginning for SpeakerBox that year, too. An introduction of our own American Idol, if you will. Someone who, over the next 14 years, would prove to be a PR rock star for our company and clients.
2002 was the year that Lisa Throckmorton, our chief operations officer, joined SpeakerBox, since acquired by REQ.
At the time, did we know that Lisa would go on to win numerous accolades, including BisNow’s “Power Women in Tech,” InTheCapital’s “Top 10 Most Powerful Women in the D.C. Startup Community,” become a Washington PR Woman of the Year finalist, and be named one of the D.C. area’s top innovators by Washington Life?
Did we have any indication that her career at SpeakerBox would include not only the bread-and-butter stuff – media relations, strategic counsel, etc. – but also help our clients navigate their ways through IPOs, mergers, and other business-altering events?
Did we foresee that she would become one of the most in-demand and well-respected thought leaders in Washington PR, with frequent teaching and speaking engagements designed to help current and future marketing professionals hone their skills, messages, and awareness?
To be honest…yeah, we kinda knew.
Mind you, we’re not soothsayers here. But when Lisa first came to us in 2002, we had a sense that she would end up being not just a valuable addition to our team, but to the D.C. PR community as a whole. Thankfully, she’s made us look very wise.
Today is Lisa’s 14-year anniversary here. It’s been a great run, but it’s really only just beginning.
Lisa, thanks for everything you’ve done for us and our clients over the years. We look forward to many more!
